What To See Outside Paris
The incomparable majestic and immense palace of Louis XIV is located at a distance of 19 kilometres in the southwest of Paris.
The brilliant reign of Louis XIV, who had protected the arts and letters, and who had lived at Versailles is the most famous king of France.
But the long wars as well as the extremely expensive lifestyle of the “Sun King” with 20.000 people staying in his palace as well as his luxurious life, were finally the reasons why the French economy weakened, which led to the French Revolution of 1789; the latter took place under Louis XVI and his wife Marie-Antoinette.
